Damien Schuster is a LEE fellow and research intern at the Thomas B. Fordham Institute. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, he joined Teach For America and taught middle school science for two years in Philadelphia. As a proponent of long-distance running, he created an afterschool running program that helped students to improve their physical abilities, as well as develop a strong sense of accomplishment. Additionally, he assists with a rigorous, academic, and cultural enrichment program that supports highly motivated, low-income middle school students to attend and succeed in top high schools.
