Gwen Muhammad joins the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation team as an independent consultant with fifteen years of experience as an Education Management Information System (EMIS) Coordinator and an Administrative Assistant for several charter schools. Gwen spent the last three years with a financial services and school management company, where she was responsible for data management for schools in Columbus and Cincinnati serving approximately 2,700 students.
Prior to that, Gwen held secretarial positions with Bank One (now known as Chase) and the Montgomery County Juvenile Court system, and worked as an office assistant for CompuNet Clinical Labs at Dayton’s Miami Valley Hospital.
Gwen has also held office management positions in several Dayton-area charter schools. School choice became her mission as a parent because she had school-age two daughters and felt they deserved the best education she could provide. Gwen is grateful for the opportunities given to both of her children to attend schools of choice until they reached their high school years and graduated ready to attend college.
Gwen lives in Dayton, Ohio, with her husband, two daughters, and one granddaughter. She is a native of Akron, Ohio, and a graduate of John R. Buchtel High School. She attended college with a degree in Secretarial Science from ITT Technical Institute in Youngstown, OH.
