What a story.
Earlier this week city council members in Philly held a hearing about charters and the traditional school system.
This headline has been written hundreds of times across American over the last decade or so and the story is always the same--something along the lines of "Council members vigorously defend the district from the invasion of unwanted charters."
But not this time. Council members actually took on the district for treating charters badly. I had to read this quote twice:
Other Council members expressed concerns that the district's efforts to limit charter growth were limiting educational options for Philadelphians.
Add this story to this,??this, this, and this, and you might begin believing that the days of dominance of the traditional public school district system are coming to a close.
