As Checker wrote yesterday, the Common Core folks did a heckuva job with the draft K-12 standards in reading and math. But that doesn't mean they are perfect. Which is why it's critical for educators, parents, and citizens of all stripes to weigh in during the three-week comment period. So kudos to Massachusetts--the state with the best standards in the land, and thus the toughest decision to make regarding whether to adopt the "common" standards--which will be holding a public hearing about the standards on March 22. Other states should do the same.
