Gadfly, like the New York Times, occasionally makes a mistake. Unlike the Times, however, we will not bore you with a four-page analysis of said errors. So: in a recent item on H.R. 2211, the Ready to Teach Act, [see http://www.edexcellence.net/gadfly/issue.cfm?issue=29#139] Gadfly conflated the positions of the National Education Association and the American Council on Education when we said that "they're in favor - while calling for excision of the offending section on test passage, merit pay, etc." Both are in favor of the legislation, but only the NEA wants the passage in question dropped (although ACE has other concerns). Our apologies. And thanks to ACE senior vice president Terry Hartle, who pointed out the error with grace and good humor.
