After finally wrapping up its infamous "Bong Hits 4 School Library Media Specialist" lawsuit, Iowa's Oskaloosa Community School District is taking pains to avoid any further litigation. So beginning last month, all its gym classes have been conducted virtually, through Facebook. "It's a revolution in physical education," said district Superintendent Jamie "Fats" Lazibone. "We're protecting students from injury, offering them more sporting options, and hitching ourselves to the social-networking bandwagon." At the start of class, students "dress out" by changing their Facebook profile pictures from school clothes to gym clothes. Then they may create and join various groups related to physical education; the selection on a recent weekday included "Bowling HOTTies" and "Vol-E-ballaz." Unfortunately, 11-year-old Arthur Poindexter abruptly left the group "Hopscotch Madness!" and went home early after experiencing a sudden pain in his wrist and forearm. His parents believe that exertions under the new gym regimen caused their son to develop Hyper-Instant Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. They are exploring their legal options.
