The annual TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) conference is under way in California this week and today's speakers include Bill Gates, who we all know has invested billions of dollars in U.S. education via the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. You can follow the conference's proceedings on the their blog and on Twitter with the hashtag #TED. Other presenters include TED prize winner and British chef Jamie Oliver, who talked about the importance of teaching children about food; scientist Cheryl Hayashi, who discussed human applications for spider silk; and anti-slavery activist Kevin Bales, who aims to end all human slavery within 25 years.
