Those with ears tightly pressed to the education keyhole may have heard it whispered that Fordham is dipping its toe into the Ohio charter school sponsorship creek. (Charter sponsors are the entities that approve a school's launch, monitor its performance, steer it to needed assistance, assure that it follows the law and spends its money properly, evaluate its academic results, and, in time, decide whether it deserves to continue.) Ohio has recently changed its law to allow nonprofits to qualify as sponsors, and Fordham is weighing the challenge of shouldering this role. We'll need a talented leader to guide it and thus are now seeking applications and inquiries from individuals who believe in the potential of charter schools, who have experience leading a results-based organization, and who possess knowledge of schools and education. The position would be based in Dayton and would begin not later than summer '04. To apply, send a resume, cover letter, and references to Eric Osberg via email at [email protected]. By March 31, please! And kindly forward this notice to others you know who might be up to this exciting challenge.
