Fordham, ED partner to open pioneering e-schools in Fortnite
The U.S. Department of Education and the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation have announced the first school to be opened in Fortnite, the world’s most popular video game, and scourge of parents the country over. The Battle Royale Academy will open in August, with plans to expand to three middle and six elementary schools in 2020.
DrkS1ay3r, the school’s principal, said students need an academic option that better prepares them for the rigors of professional gaming. But unions are wary. “We’ve long wanted teachers to have more flexibly to go beyond mandated standards and curricula,” said National Education Association President Lily Eskelsen García, “but this isn’t what we had in mind.” The Fordham Institute’s Robert Pondiscio challenged that notion, saying, “If parents choose it, who are we to second-guess it?”
Apply to be a Fordham research intern, get plagiarized by politicians
We will be accepting applications for our fall 2019 research internships through April 30, 2019. The Thomas B. Fordham Institute, based in Washington, D.C., provides several internships throughout the year. They involve diverse and meaningful responsibilities, and their work *may* be used by national- and Wisconsin-level candidates to outline major policy positions without due attribution. #IMPACT!
