True to form, the state senate is balking at a weak reform proposal floated by the state superintendent. The plan wouldn't improve the state's worst-in-the-nation charter law, and would make cursory changes to teaching. And yet even this is objectionable.
The saying "A day late and a dollar short" would be too complimentary. It's more like "Six months late and a marathon short." Even marginally competitive states were doing more aggressive things in the spring of 2009.
