Last week, U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige announced the availability of nearly $100 million in grants that will be made available to local schools, districts and charter schools to improve the teaching of American history. The grants are part of President Bush's "We the People" initiative and are designed to "give our teachers new tools to teach some of the oldest and most important lessons in history."
