Though it is named after a nearby creek that is thought to mean, in the language of the Lenni Lenape First Nation, ?place where we drink twice,? teachers in the Neshaminy School District, a Bucks County district somewhere between Trenton and Philly, have apparently drunk from something other than the creek. They boycotted Back-to-School Night, of all things.??The contract dispute has been going on for so long ? May 1, 2008 is the first entry ? there's a website devoted to it.? And then ? what are the kids drinking? ? it got real whacky when hundreds of middle-school students, as the local Fox TV reported, ?ran off into the woods and had to be herded back to class by police, because teachers would not leave the building.?? (There is video!)
This behavior could help explain Washington's crossing of the Delaware, not far away, on a night when sane people ? and, apparently, the Hessians ? were either in bed or partying.
