New data from the American Federation of Teachers show that teachers in voucher-supported schools are nasty and rude, while the schools themselves are filthy and rat-ridden. "Voucher school teachers are ten times more likely to administer harsh corporal punishments for minor offenses, and the schools are twice as likely to allow cat-neutering clinics on the weekends without proper sanitation," concluded the report, which was based on data obtained late at night from Education Secretary Margaret Spellings's iPod. "No well-intentioned teacher would ever set foot in such a place. Thank God for the sanitary, safe and friendly atmosphere of public schools. Where would good teachers go otherwise?" Voucher supporter Meanie Talon of the Center for Education Reform disputed the report in the New York Times, noting "You have to ask, how clean were these kids when they came to voucher schools?" You can find the report here.
