In Britain, the new government has decided, according to the Washington Post, ?to allow schools to charge up to 9,000 pounds ($14,000) per year? as part of its program to ?reduce the burden on Britain's debt-laden public sector.? And in Italy, the parliament is today voting on a bill that would modify the way universities are structured and funded. Asked about the violence in his capital city, Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said, ?The real students are at home studying.?
