Whitney Tilson unveiled his new website today. ?It's still a work in process,? he says in his Thanksgiving email message announcing the debut, ?but I want to go public with it because the first major content on the site is my rebuttal of Diane Ravitch? who is truly prodigious in spreading her dangerous lies, distortions and misinformation.?
Tilson's 1400-word slam of Ravitch on the site??what Ravitch is doing is easy,? he says, ?and deeply, profoundly wrong, both logically and morally??continues the heated and divisive debate begun with publication of?the respected education historian's book, The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education last March (a NYT review here).
Of interest?to Ravitch-watchers, Tilson includes?links to a number of critical reviews, essays, debates, and blogs about Ravitch's book and her about-face on reform issues like testing, choice, and accountability.
Though the debate over Ravitch can be intense and shrill, the issues debated are serious.
