The Wall Street Journal reports today that a higher percentage than usual of New York City teachers will not receive tenure this year ?as the city moves to make more difficult the path to lifetime employment.? In 2009?2010, some 11 percent of eligible educators in the Big Apple were denied tenure. Currently, about 6,000 teachers are up for the prize; Eric Nadelstern, a deputy chancellor, says it's likely that more than 11 percent of them will not make the cut. Of course, there's always next year.
