On Tuesday, August 29 from noon to 2 p.m., the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation will host a lunchtime debate at the National Press Club about whether the state standards movement is faltering--and whether national testing is the logical replacement. Panelists include former West Virginia governor and Alliance for Excellent Education president Bob Wise; former U.S. deputy secretary of Education Gene Hickok; the AFT's director of educational issues, Joan Baratz Snowden; Education Week managing editor (and event moderator) Lynn Olson; and our own Checker Finn. More details are available here.
