The National Working Group on Advanced Education was formed in Spring 2022, prompted by long-standing shortcomings in America’s handling of schooling for advanced learners (a.k.a. "gifted" students) and a rash of high-profile controversies about how best to develop the potential of the nation’s high achievers. The group's work culminated in Building a Wider, More Diverse Pipeline of Advanced Learners—a final set of three-dozen recommendations for districts, charter networks, and states, which was released June 12.
