This week Terry and I blogged about one Ohio middle school (the worst in the entire state) receiving federal School Improvement Grants to turn itself around. We're critical of the Buckeye State's school turnaround strategy on many fronts, primarily that districts and schools are allowed to try the same tired strategies despite a track record of failure (and taxpayers get the bill).
Today's Canton Repository provides a brilliant quote that speaks for itself when it comes to what's wrong with Ohio's school turnaround strategy:
Sandy Womack travels across the country speaking motivationally about how to turn around low-performing schools. Yet, his was the poorest performer in the county last year.
'Nuff said.
