- Repeat after me: “Report cards are just a snapshot. Tests do not define our students. Report cards do not reflect all that our students know and can do.” This mantra should hold true even when the report cards are awesome, right? (Cleveland.com, 10/21/21)
- Back in the real world, here’s a nice look at the new afterschool program in Plain Local Schools called Beyond the Bell. It sounds like an hour or two of additional, STEM-based academics several days a week. Actual classroom teachers are teaching, actual buses are delivering kids home afterward, and it’s all paid for by federal Covid-relief dollars. Says the district supe: “We're not building structures. We’re not putting in new things that look nice. We are, ‘Here's what our kids need and here's what our families need,’ and we can deliver.” Fresh air indeed, sir. (Canton Repository, 10/21/21)
