- The first sitting elected member of the state board of education has announced she will be running for another elective office—State Senate—next fall. Such meetings are required at least every other month by law, don’t you know. It sounded calm, cool, collected, and entirely businesslike. How refreshing. Two administrative rule packages were discussed and we learned that Director-nominate Steve Dackin would likely have his confirmation hearing in the Senate in early December. (Gongwer Ohio, 11/21/23)

Good freakin’ question, boss, seeing as how it’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment for real time science education dropped right on your doorstep. Answer? The timing of the thing, right during scheduled dismissal, seems a skosh dangerous to him. He has been convinced by those fears to close the entire district for the entire day, extending spring break. “What I’ve learned is what an event solar eclipses are,” he added. Did you, man? Did you?
