- The mock interview days as described in this piece sound great, but are they really “mock” interviews? They are extolled as vital “practice” for teaching students at Ohio University’s Chillicothe branch campus to learn how to interview with school district leaders in the future. They are also considered “practice” for the interviewers themselves to keep their own skills sharp. But, seeing as how a number of OUC grads have taken jobs in Chillicothe City Schools over the years, feels like there’s not a lot of “mocking” really going on. (Chillicothe Gazette, 12/15/23)
- It is gratifying to see our hometown newspaper take the effort to question Columbus City Schools’ new, lowered, academic goals, and to give OSU professor Vlad Kogan lots of opportunity to explain why those lowered goals are problematic. But unlike other CCS-related issues recently, the Dispatch doesn’t dig in very far on this one, which is too bad. Seems kind of important to me. This ain’t no drill. If you want to read Vlad’s full data and analysis, though, you can find it here. (Columbus Dispatch, 12/17/23)
