- There are, in my estimation, only two people in Ohio (outside of state government, that is) who truly understand our school funding system. Neither of them is me. One of them, Dr. Howard Fleeter, was talking this week to the OCJ about a December report he co-authored on the topic which has two conclusions. The first, it seems, is something that the state has already done; and the second, as I read it, is something that the other funding expert has been talking about for years. (Ohio Capital Journal, 1/26/23) Pssst: ICYMI, the other fella is also embarking on a new look at education funding. Part one is here.
- Here’s something that I do understand: People who embrace school choice because they needed a different educational fit growing up and couldn’t get it. Cristina Gulacy-Worrel, vice president of advocacy and development for Oakmont Education, tells her own education story as a way to illustrate why she supports Oakmont’s many alternative programs. And to explain why the validation provided by Oakmont’s recent YASS Prize win means so much to her. (Fox News, 1/25/23)
