The topic is the state’s new funding pool for quality charter schools and whether the text of the law that created the fund includes a loophole which allows “non-quality” schools to receive funding too. - In a similar vein, here’s a story which lauds the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City Schools for its efforts at expanding AP participation. It is one of only 10 districts in Ohio to earn a spot on the College Board’s 10th annual AP District Honor Roll. I am at a loss as to how to reconcile this positive-seeming award with the district’s perennially poor report cards. Since the award is given for a percentage increase, I am assuming it has something to do with how few students formed the baseline. But I could be wrong. Perhaps it’s just a bug and not a feature of the award system. (Heights Observer, 1/3/20)
