- Maybe y’all saw this? Apparently Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO Eric Gordon participated on some national panel with U.S. Ed Sec Cardona this week about school reopening. I missed it, unfortunately, but Cleveland.com gave us a helpful update (minus whatever federal pomp is being mustered on Zoom these days) on what’s actually happening on the ground in CMSD. Very little, from the sound of it, to be followed next week by nothing at all. A.K.A. Spring Break. And if anyone out there can translate this gobbledygook for me—“We have committed to ourselves we’re not successful if 37,000 students have a generally positive response. We will be successful when 37,000 individual students each have a successful response.”—I’d be much obliged. (Cleveland.com, 3/24/21)
- Meanwhile, tiny Leetonia Exempted Village Schools in eastern Ohio gave us a look at the Covid learning remediation plan they will be submitting to the governor. The district will provide month-long summer camps at various times through June, July, and August for any students who want them. They will include academics, field trips, fun, food, and transportation. All for free. Where can I sign up? (Salem News, 3/26/21)
