- Only one clip of note today, but that’s OK. I’m still resting up from Monday’s exertions. Plus, this is a weirdly interesting one. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria was interviewed on TV in Cincinnati this week, on the topic of education in Ohio after the pandemic. The interview is supposedly edited but reads like a straight stream-of-consciousness transcript. Did he answer the questions? Didn’t he? Who knows? (None of us should be reminded in this way of how we speak when answering live questions off-the-cuff). It is also prefaced with some thoughts from a couple of area educators on the topic of third grade reading and the value of testing as part of that “what’s next?” discussion. (WCPO-TV, Cincinnati, 5/25/21)
