- Officials at Cleveland Metropolitan School District and the Say Yes to Education program in the city sound very happy in this piece, catching up on year two of the program. Graduation rates in the district climbed once again, thus more scholarship money headed out the door along with the students, and thus postsecondary enrollment went up as well. - Speaking of high school graduation, there were two things that Governor DeWine and former state health director Dr. Amy Acton required of schools in order for them to hold graduation ceremonies this year: Don’t delay the event beyond its originally-scheduled date, and make sure you have the sign off of your county health department for whatever your event plan is. My wife’s alma mater, Big Walnut High School, ignored both and have their non-approved ceremony (‘Rona, party of 250) scheduled for July 25. And they’re kinda braggy about flouting the requirements. Let’s see what happens, shall we? I know Susan’s on pins and needles…while staying 25 miles away. (ABC6, Columbus, 7/10/20)
