- We’re still in Post-Budget Land around here, based on the available material for clips today. First up, the executive editor of The Wheeling Intelligencer opined this weekend on the topic of Ohio’s new graduation requirements (namechecking Fordham, of course). Mainly, he’s discussing the process by which those requirements were developed and adopted, comparing that to recent developments in the Mountain State. (Wheeling Intelligencer, 7/20/19)
- Fordham is namechecked in this editorial from the Canton Rep, discussing the budget in general, but not for the usual reason. Instead, our assessment of the budget as “…really good…for kids and parents” is here concurred with by the eds. Thanks, gang. (Canton Repository, 7/21/19)
- On the topic of Academic Distress Commissions, Youngstown’s resident gadfly Bertram de Souza seems very pleased that the local ADC/CEO combo will remain in charge of the local schools as a result of the new state budget. Very pleased indeed. Although I kind of feel like his ire may have been provoked this time. (Youngstown Vindicator, 7/21/19) In this more measured, journalistic piece, the good folks at Gongwer categorize the topic of Academic Distress Commissions as “unfinished business” following the state budget process. They interviewed Governor DeWine on the topic. He sounds like he would definitely like to finish this particular business as quickly as possible. (Gongwer Ohio, 7/19/19)
