- This is the article that every Columbus school parent has been waiting for: Asking the question “How prepared is Columbus City Schools for the start of the impending school year?” I don’t know how surprised they will be with the answer of “not very”, especially in terms of transportation services, an issue which, as ever, reaches well beyond the student body of the district itself. (Columbus Dispatch, 8/2/23) Of course, there is no mention of charter, private, or STEM students in the Columbus piece because, well, why would there be? There IS mention of charter school students in this Cleveland story—in which CMSD officials discuss expanding busing to district middle schools for the first time in years—but that mention ain’t a very nice one. As ever. (Signal Cleveland, 8/1/23)
- Here’s a great profile of a small group of dedicated Catholic sisters serving in the Appalachian areas of West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio for the last 40 years. They cover a lot of territory and a lot of different needs including food, shelter, companionship, and support for education. Beautiful. (Global Sisters Report, 7/31/23)
