- Here is a nice look at the opening day at Marion Preparatory Academy, a new charter school in Marion. Among all of the “first day of school” stories published across Ohio so far, it is the only one I’ve found that looks at a charter school. (Marion Star, 8/21/19)
- Remember those potentially toxic school supply backpacks that Lorain City Schools decided to return to their original donor out of a concern for safety? Turns out that Elyria City Schools decided to do the same thing, although that was neither part of the original story nor is it a major point in this follow up piece. In the follow up, we learn that those potentially toxic backpacks and the potentially toxic supplies inside have found a new recipient and that those potentially toxic items will be distributed to Lorain County children as originally intended, via another avenue. I will admit I was surprised for a moment when I read who the hero of this story was, but then I remembered we were talking about Lorain and it all made sense. (The Chronicle-Telegram, 8/22/19)
