Three great stories about the state of Ohio prioritizing money for the benefit of students and families.
- First up, another important reminder of the availability of Afterschool Child Enrichment (ACE) ESA funding for eligible families to boost student learning with classes, tutoring, and other academic enrichment activities. The enthusiastic private school parent interviewed here says that programming she accessed over the summer “re-energized” her children for the new school year, and she predicts that ACE could be “instrumental for the growth and development of Ohio kids for years to come”. Right on! (News 5, Cleveland, 8/29/22)
- Secondly, the Ohio Department of Education presented their budget proposal to the state board of education’s budget committee earlier this week. Among the vital areas upon which the department wants to focus funds and attention: early literacy, learning acceleration, and workforce development. Kudos! (Gongwer Ohio, 8/29/22)
- Thirdly, among the recommendations of Ohio’s State Committee on Computer Science is a focus of nearly $100 million aimed at improving computer science education, access, and career pipelines for K-12 students across the state. Definitely music to this nerd’s ears. (Gongwer Ohio, 8/30/22)
