The Massachusetts Department of Education has developed a new (draft) curriculum framework for history and social science. This 60-page document summarizes what the Commonwealth thinks students should learn about history, geography, economics, and civics in each grade. The document has been placed on the internet and the department seeks comments, edits and suggestions from historians (particularly those with fond feelings for Western civilization).
