Brick-and-mortar charter schools serve more than 80,000 Ohio students, most of whom come from low-income backgrounds. Recent Fordham research indicates that children attending these public schools make more academic progress than traditional students. Despite these impressive results, Ohio has long shortchanged charter schools, including giving them limited access to facility resources.
How can Ohio policymakers improve funding for charter school facilities? Join us for a new Fordham Institute event where Matthew Joseph of ExcelinEd, a national education group, will present new research about charter facilities in Ohio. His presentation will include an analysis of the extent to which Ohio is meeting facility needs, as well as a discussion of potential policy solutions.
The online event will consist of a 20 minute presentation, with a Q&A session to follow. The event is being held in conjunction with the release of a forthcoming ExcelinEd policy brief, Building for Success in Ohio: Measuring how well Ohio is meeting charter school facility needs.
